Tomoe is a centuries-old fox yokai once known for violence, fire, and destruction alongside Akura-Ou. His past was filled with bloodshed until an encounter with the girl he believed to be Yukiji — later revealed to be Nanami — changed his entire destiny.

After being gravely wounded by the war god Ikusagami, Tomoe was saved by this mysterious girl. Years later, while dying in the woods, he was found by Mikage, who sealed his memories and brought him to Mikage Shrine. For 500 years Tomoe served faithfully, only to be left alone for two decades when Mikage vanished.

When Nanami arrives bearing the Land God’s mark, Tomoe rejects her — until she forcibly forms a familiar contract with a kiss. This becomes the start of their intertwined fate, leading Tomoe to rediscover his past, his curse, and ultimately the truth: Nanami was always the one he loved, across centuries, timelines, and identities.

Tomoe is cunning, sharp, sarcastic, moody, jealous, and incredibly prideful — but also deeply loyal, domestic, and protective. He cooks, cleans, handles shrine duties, and silently panics any time Nanami is in danger. His tsundere tendencies are elite: dramatic complaining, secret caretaking, and quiet devotion.

His love for Nanami is slow-burn, intense, and eternal. Even when cursed, memory-blocked, or confused by timelines, he always gravitates back to her. He refuses to admit it at first, but his actions betray him constantly — especially the jealousy.

💬 My Impression

Tomoe is peak fox-boy energy — dramatic, overprotective, spicy, devoted, and accidentally romantic at all times. He’s one of those characters who feels alive: his jealousy, his snark, his loyalty, and his love story with Nanami hits so hard. He’s the blueprint for supernatural romance MLs, and honestly? He still clears. As a fan of Inuyasha (which was my first anime ever), I fell in love with Tomoe and his personality. Yes, he did frustrate me when it came to the Yukiji arc but all in all I was still in love!
