Marie is a selfish, iron-fisted princess whose terrible rule earns her a trip to the guillotine. But instead of dying, she suddenly wakes up one year before her execution. Unfortunately, changing the past isn’t so simple. Marie keeps dying and rewinding again and again. To escape her deadly fate, she must face the women tangled up in each death and somehow turn their murderous feelings into something much more romantic.

Dear reader,

The premise of this manga is ridiculous in exactly the way the title promises. Marie begins as a selfish, iron-fisted princess whose people hate her enough to send her straight to the guillotine. Instead of dying for good, she wakes up one year in the past with a chance to change her fate.

Except fixing one path to death doesn’t actually make her safe. Marie keeps finding herself killed in completely different ways and sent right back into the same time loop.

What makes the story so entertaining is Marie’s solution. Instead of suddenly becoming a perfectly kind and innocent princess, she starts investigating the women connected to her deaths. Once attraction, jealousy, obsession, resentment, and some very complicated feelings start revealing themselves, Marie essentially decides that the best way to survive is to make these women fall for her instead.

Volume 1 completely commits to that premise. It’s a chaotic mix of Girls’ Love, dark comedy, murder, fanservice, time-loop mystery, and harem nonsense. Marie is bold, spoiled, shameless, and somehow charismatic enough that watching her attempt to seduce her way out of every new death becomes genuinely funny.

I also liked that the women weren’t simply treated as random additions to the harem. Their jealousy, insecurities, desires, and complicated relationships with Marie help explain why certain events happen in each timeline.

Yuuki’s storyline especially stood out because she and Marie already share years of history. What initially looks like resentment and jealousy becomes much more complicated once Marie finally starts understanding what Yuuki has been feeling.

And through all of it, Marie’s answer somehow continues to be: if this woman might kill me, I guess I’ll just make her mine.

Why It Worked

The story fully commits to how ridiculous its premise is. Marie doesn’t suddenly become a completely different person just because she gets another chance at life. She’s still arrogant, selfish, confident, and extremely bold. The difference is that she now redirects all of that energy toward surviving.

That gives the manga its own personality instead of making it feel like another straightforward villainess redemption story.

Favorite Part

Watching Marie slowly realize that the dangerous women around her aren’t driven by simple hatred. There are layers of attraction, insecurity, jealousy, obsession, and resentment underneath everything.

Her response to every new revelation being some version of “Fine, I’ll make her mine” makes the entire situation even funnier.
