🌙 Synopsis

Eli is the youngest member of the newly debuted boy group Vinks. Being an alpha means people already assume success should come naturally to him, but Eli knows how hard he has worked to prove himself. His talent as a dancer eventually lands him a special collaboration with Lee Sooyoung, one of the industry’s biggest idols and a member of the supposedly all-alpha group α-code.

Their performance is set to a nostalgic song famous for sparking a “soulmate” craze, but rehearsing together brings Eli much closer to Sooyoung than he ever expected. There is just one problem: Sooyoung smells far too sweet for someone who is supposed to be an alpha.

What begins as an idol collaboration quickly becomes something much more complicated as attraction, omegaverse instincts, celebrity expectations, family pressure, and the entertainment industry all collide.

💭 My Thoughts

First of all, this manga is absolutely beautiful. The artwork immediately caught my attention, but it was the character art and the way Eli and Sooyoung looked together that kept making me stop and stare. There is such a soft, almost dreamy quality to some of their scenes that works perfectly with the idea of destined mates.

I also loved the K-pop idol setting. Combining the pressures of the idol industry with omegaverse dynamics gives the story another layer because both Eli and Sooyoung are constantly being judged by what people expect them to be. Eli is already fighting the assumption that being an alpha automatically made things easier for him, while Sooyoung’s entire public identity is wrapped up in something much more complicated.

And then there is Sooyoung’s father. That man had me HEATED. 😭 The way Sooyoung is treated more like something that needs to be managed than a person with his own feelings genuinely frustrated me. The entertainment companies were not helping either. Watching other people make decisions about Eli and Sooyoung’s relationship only made me want these two to choose each other even more.

What surprised me most was how quickly I became attached to them. Their chemistry during the dance collaboration was already strong, but I wanted so much more time with them afterward.

And that is really where my 4.7/5 comes from. I loved the story, but after the collaboration, parts of their relationship progression felt a little rushed. I wanted more room for Eli and Sooyoung to grow together instead of moving toward the conclusion so quickly.

I would have LOVED a longer side story showing their future together. Better yet, give me a whole second volume. I want to see them navigating their relationship, their careers, their groups, and everything that comes after finally choosing each other. I was not ready to say goodbye to them yet. 😭

💕 Eli & Sooyoung

One of my favorite things about Eli and Sooyoung is that their connection starts through something they both understand deeply: performing.

The dance collaboration gives them an excuse to be physically close, but it also creates the first real opening for Eli to see beyond Sooyoung’s carefully maintained idol image. Sooyoung may be the famous senior idol, but Eli gradually encounters the person underneath everything his group, company, and family expect him to be.

Their omegaverse connection obviously heightens the attraction, but I never felt like their relationship was interesting only because of pheromones or fate. I genuinely liked them together, which is exactly why I wanted the manga to give their relationship more time.

✨ Favorite Element

The dance collaboration is easily one of my favorite parts of the entire setup. Having Eli and Sooyoung perform a song connected to a famous “soulmate” craze while their own connection is beginning to develop is almost too perfect.

It gives their first major interaction this romantic layer of irony because Eli has always thought of that kind of destined connection as something far away from him, only to suddenly find himself standing face-to-face with someone who may completely change that.

🖤 Spice vs Plot

This definitely has spice, but I would not describe it as a manga where the spice is the entire plot. There is still a real story surrounding Eli and Sooyoung, especially with Sooyoung’s secret, their idol careers, their agencies, his family, and the question of how much control either of them actually has over their own lives.

The mature scenes fit their attraction and the omegaverse premise rather than feeling randomly inserted. My ARC had censorship over the explicit artwork, but it was still very obvious that this is an 18+ title.

💞 Chemistry Check

Very high. Their chemistry is probably one of the biggest reasons I wanted another volume.

The dance rehearsal creates immediate tension between them, but I liked seeing that attraction turn into genuine concern and attachment. Eli does not just want Sooyoung physically. He increasingly wants Sooyoung to have the freedom to make choices for himself.

I just wish we had gotten another chapter or two devoted entirely to their relationship after the biggest conflicts were resolved.

😵 Drama Level

Medium to high. The relationship itself was not what had me stressed. It was everybody around them. 😂

Between idol-image expectations, companies trying to manage the situation, Sooyoung’s secret, and his father’s behavior, there is constantly something standing between these two and a normal relationship.

Apparently being destined mates was the easy part. Getting everyone else to mind their business was the problem.

🚩 Toxicity Check

Most of my red flags were aimed outside the main relationship.

The biggest issues come from the way Sooyoung is controlled by people who believe they know what is best for his career and future. His father’s behavior especially frustrated me because so much of Sooyoung’s life seems to be treated like a business decision.

Eli and Sooyoung’s relationship felt much more like the emotional safe space inside all of that pressure than the source of the toxicity itself.

💌 Would I Reread It?

Absolutely.

The art alone makes this something I would happily revisit, but I also genuinely liked Eli and Sooyoung as a couple. I can already see myself rereading their first collaboration knowing where their relationship eventually goes.

My problem is that rereading it will probably just make me start begging for a second volume all over again. 😭

👀 Who Is This For?

This is best for adult BL readers who enjoy K-pop or celebrity romances, omegaverse, destined mates, gorgeous artwork, mature chemistry, secret identities, external relationship pressure, and romances where the couple has to fight for the ability to choose each other.

If the phrase “top idol secretly isn’t what his all-alpha group claims he is” immediately gets your attention, this one is probably going on your TBR. 😂

🎭 Scene Stealer

I have to give this one to Sooyoung.

Eli is incredibly lovable, but learning more about Sooyoung and everything hidden behind his polished idol image gave the story so much of its emotional weight. The more I learned about the pressures surrounding him, the more protective I became.

Which is also why every appearance involving his father had me ready to fight somebody. 😭
