💔 “Do you love me… or hate me?”
Messy, sensual, and emotionally wrecking; Love or Hate is not for the faint of heart, but it is one of the most unforgettable BL manhwa out there. Centered around Haesoo, a jaded romance columnist, and Joowon, his ex-stepbrother turned superstar actor, this psychological rollercoaster pulls no punches. Add the mysterious and refined photographer “K” to the mix, and you’re in for a chaotic, yet magnetic ride through trauma, passion, and emotional manipulation.
Completed at 106 chapters, the story doesn’t just deliver smut—it delivers storytelling, with serious doses of toxic romance, healing arcs, and complex character development. The result? A haunting, beautifully drawn tale about letting go, choosing love, and facing your past, no matter how painful.
🔍 Plot Overview
- Haesoo: Romance columnist with deep scars and emotional walls
- Joowon: Famous actor, childhood connection, and Haesoo’s emotional kryptonite
- K (Taku): Photographer who seems to offer stability—until he doesn’t
The story opens with the remnants of a forbidden stepbrother romance. Haesoo and Joowon were caught kissing years ago, tearing apart their family. Now adults, they fall back into an addictive push-pull dynamic just as “K” enters the picture with a seemingly healthier love.
🧠 Psychological Drama Meets Erotic Art
This isn’t fluff. The sex scenes are emotionally charged and full of expression. The art style captures everything from tension to tenderness, making every moment hit harder.
What stands out most is how raw the relationships feel. Even when the characters are doing things that frustrate you, you get why. You understand their trauma. You feel their desire.
✅ Pros & ❌ Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| 💥 Incredible character development | 😖 Early toxicity may turn off some readers |
| 🎨 Expressive, emotional artwork | 💔 Taku’s departure feels abrupt |
| 🌀 Complex but human relationships | 🫤 Ending feels rushed (Chapter 100 hint) |
| 🎭 Mature storytelling with healing | 🤯 Lots of emotional whiplash |
🌈 Personal Thoughts
This was one of the first BL manhwa I ever read completely, and it stuck with me. Joowon was toxic, yes, but Haesoo wasn’t passive. He pushed back, tried to find peace through someone else, and ultimately, chose Joowon. It wasn’t the “perfect” choice—but it felt real.
Even when you wish things had gone differently (Taku, we miss you), the character growth is undeniable. Please don’t skip the creator’s notes, they offer closure, clarity, and extras that make the whole experience more rewarding.
⭐ Final Rating: 9.5 / 10
