The Villainess’s Maker
Overview
Yoon Haneul has always been a pushover… until she wakes up as Aila Mertensia, the villainess of a novel she wrote ten years ago. Forced into a time loop, she can’t escape until she learns how to act like the villainess everyone expects. When a mysterious warlock, Killian, appears with an offer to train her into a “proper” villainess, Aila realizes that surviving her own story requires far more audacity—and danger—than she ever wrote.
Main Characters
- Aila Mertensia / Yoon Haneul — A former people-pleaser and anxious author thrown into a villainess role she absolutely wasn’t built for.
- Killian — An immortal warlock with a grudge against God and a dangerously addictive design. The standout male lead.
- Duke Vincent Mertensia — Aila’s strict father whose cold parenting style makes her already fragile composure crumble faster.
- Aslan Mertensia — The older brother. Loyal, supportive, and quietly trying to keep the family from falling apart.
- Aila’s Younger Brother — Soft, glasses-wearing, adorable energy. One of the few bright spots in Aila’s life.
- Polanc — The palace designer with theatrical flair. Dramatic, loud, and iconic—he shapes Aila’s villainess persona better than anyone.
- Archmage Septimus — Cold, brilliant, and one of the OG male leads. Deeply tied to divine magic and underused in the final act.
- Prince Verner — The OG novel’s main male lead. Charming in theory, frustrating in execution. Too easily manipulated.
- Charlotte Angelo — The OG heroine and peak “white lotus.” Manipulative, petty, and never redeemed in a satisfying way.
- Princess Cordelia — Verner’s older sister. Sharp, political, regal, and Aila’s frequent opponent.
- Sir Lenox — Verner’s knight and OG male lead. Stoic, loyal, subtly protective—classic knight archetype done well.
- Duke Trandia — Another OG male lead. Elegant, charismatic, and clearly designed to be fan-favorite material despite limited screen time.
