How to Survive as a Maid in a Horror Game Vol. 1
I had already read this story before, so seeing it come into physical form made me extra excited. This volume reminded me exactly why the premise grabbed me in the first place. It has that perfect mix of horror game survival, gothic atmosphere, dark humor, and tense character dynamics.
Hilda is such a fun lead because she is not surviving through brute strength or sudden overpowered abilities. She is anxious, observant, and constantly trying to calculate the safest move in a world where one wrong choice could get her killed. That panic makes her feel relatable while still keeping the story entertaining.
Adrian is the kind of dangerous male lead who keeps the tension alive every time he appears. You never fully know if he is amused, curious, threatening, or slowly becoming attached, and that uncertainty is what makes the story so addictive.
The story keeps the horror game stakes alive while still letting the character moments breathe. It is not just “maid meets dangerous man.” It is survival, manipulation, mystery, and tension wrapped in a gorgeous gothic package.
The contrast between Hilda internally panicking and Adrian being completely unreadable made their scenes so entertaining. Every interaction feels like a test she may or may not pass.
