My Review

10/10

I finished this story long ago, but it still lives rent-free in my head. It’s that good. The story is gripping, the characters are layered, and even the villains have believable reasons for who they became. None of them feel cartoonishly evil — just tragically human. The pacing, mystery, and emotional beats are handled so well that you’re hooked until the end. Please read it spoiler-free for the best experience. You won’t regret it. 💜

Romance & Emotion

This is one of the greenest romances I’ve ever read — mature, healthy, and beautifully slow-burn. Hayan and Euntae are equals who choose each other despite chaos and bloodshed. Their chemistry is electric yet grounded. I only wish we got a few more chapters focused solely on their happiness. 🥺

Art, Atmosphere & Characters

The art is breathtaking — every fight scene feels cinematic, and every emotional moment feels real. The cast is diverse, full of complexity and moral conflict. Even side characters like Father Michael, Vael, and Daniel (my favorite lion 🦁) stay memorable. Vael’s dedication to curing vampirism adds a tender moral weight amid all the violence.

Where It Stumbles

  • The handling of Yohan is divisive — trying to justify his cruelty with tragic backstory weakened the impact of his ending.
  • The pacing of the final arc felt a little rushed compared to the slow-burning build of earlier chapters.

My Full Thoughts (Spoilers)

The story begins with Hayan living a peaceful, quiet life, until a vampire attack forces her to reveal her true nature — a pureblood vampire. From that night, her life spirals into violence and loss. When Father Michael, the priest who raised her, is killed, her world collapses. She partners with Euntae Hwang, a police officer secretly hiding his own vampiric side, to dismantle the vampire hierarchy known as the Angels of Death.

They hunt traitors, uncover moles within the police force, and confront Sahan, Ash, and other Angels serving “God.” Ash’s tragic backstory — killing her best friend and stealing her identity — is dark but humanizing. Vael, meanwhile, breaks the mold by becoming a rare vampire ally seeking to heal humanity, aided by his adorable lion, Daniel.

Eventually, Hayan discovers the horrifying truth: her childhood friend Yohan Seo is “God,” the architect of everything. He murdered her parents for being too human and created the Angels of Death to purify the vampire race. In the climactic battle, Hayan defeats him only after he acknowledges his sins. Vael saves Euntae using Hayan’s blood — breaking vampire lore — and the couple finally confesses their love. The story closes with redemption, healing, and hope as humanity receives the vaccine Yohan helped create in secret.

It’s bittersweet, tragic, and beautiful — especially seeing Ash imprisoned yet redeemed, and Vael visiting her in the end hinting at his affection. Despite my frustration at Yohan’s lenient death, the emotional journey of everyone else left me in tears. 🩸❤️

Final Verdict

Unholy Blood is an emotional, blood-soaked rollercoaster filled with heart, sacrifice, and redemption. It’s rare to find a manhwa this complete — action, romance, and tragedy woven together with such grace. The kind of story that hurts to finish because you’ll miss it so much. Highly, highly recommended. 💯
