Rating: 5★

♡ Synopsis

Now officially married, Inés Valeztena and Cárcel Escalante begin their life together in the coastal city of Calztela. Inés still plans to end the marriage and gain the freedom she could never reach in her previous lives, but Cárcel’s growing interest in her makes her carefully built future harder to control.

♡ My Review

Volume 2 is where the relationship between Inés and Cárcel becomes even more interesting. Volume 1 sets up the mystery, trauma, and arranged marriage, but this volume forces them into the same space as husband and wife. The result is tense, emotional, and honestly addictive.

Inés remains one of the most fascinating romance fantasy heroines because her coldness never feels shallow. She is guarded because she has survived too much, remembered too much, and lost too much. Watching her try to stay detached while Cárcel slowly becomes more sincere makes every small shift between them feel meaningful.

Cárcel also gets stronger as a character here. He still has flaws, but Volume 2 gives him more emotional weight. His jealousy, confusion, and growing concern for Inés make him feel less like a simple playboy and more like someone who is slowly realizing the woman he married is carrying something much heavier than he understands.

Calztela adds such a beautiful but bittersweet atmosphere. The coastal setting should feel romantic, but because it is tied to Inés’ past, it carries this haunting emotional weight. That contrast between beauty and pain is one of the reasons this story works so well.

The artwork is once again stunning. The warm golds, soft blush tones, elegant outfits, and romantic framing make this volume feel luxurious in print. Cheong-gwa’s art gives every quiet glance and emotional pause extra impact.

✦ Overall, Volume 2 turns the marriage itself into the emotional center of the story. It is romantic, painful, layered, and full of slow-burn tension.

♡ What I Loved

  • The marriage dynamic gets stronger. Inés and Cárcel finally have to navigate each other as husband and wife.
  • Inés’ trauma feels meaningful. Her past lives are not just backstory, they shape her entire emotional world.
  • Cárcel shows real growth. He becomes more thoughtful, more invested, and harder to dismiss.
  • Calztela adds atmosphere. The coastal setting is gorgeous, but it also carries emotional weight.
  • The artwork is beautiful. The warm palette, fashion, and romantic framing make this volume feel so polished.

♡ Final Verdict

The Broken Ring Vol. 2 is a gorgeous continuation that makes the romance more emotionally complicated and the characters more compelling. If Volume 1 hooks you with the premise, Volume 2 is where the slow-burn marriage tension really starts to hit.

Final Rating: 5★
✦ A beautifully illustrated, emotionally rich continuation filled with tension, trauma, and slow-burn romance.
